What Could A Jet White iPhone Look Like?

Back in November, Mac Otakara reported that Apple is planning to release a Jet White iPhone to capitalize on the success of the Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

The demand for a glossy white chassis has grown so popular that an Apple fan came up with a mockup of what a Jet White iPhone could look like.

A video on Twitter posted by Sonny Dickinson of Melbourne, Australia shows a possible design for the rumored white iPhone. But what tipped users right away that this was not a real Apple product was the lack of logo on the iPhone 7.

Jet White iPhone: Not Going To Happen Just Yet

What can be gleaned from Dickson's video tweet is that either an accessories company such as ColorWare coated an iPhone 7 with a glossy white paint, or that the iPhones are simply encased in a white casing.

Upon closer inspection, one will also quickly notice that the white finish of the phones in the video is of an eggshell-like texture, and the quality is not the same as the high-gloss finish and shine that are evident in the iPhone 7 in Jet Black.

Whatever may be the case, it is highly unlikely that Apple will be releasing a new color option for the iPhone 7 series in the middle of its product cycle. In keeping with tradition, the company has been known to release new colors to coincide with its yearly product releases — the way it did with the gold iPhone 5s and rose gold iPhone 6s.

Another challenge is the fact that Apple is already facing difficulties in meeting the demand for all five colors, so adding another color option could only make things more difficult for the company. Currently, the flagship series is available in Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Black and Jet Black.

Apple Is Working On Something Bigger

At this point, Apple engineers are probably more focused on developing and building the iPhone 8, which is supposed to be a real game changer, instead of coming up with a new color option for the iPhone 7. Considering that next year is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, Apple already has its hands full, so adding a new color to the current lineup would be the last thing on the developers' minds.

For those who really want to have a Jet White iPhone, they will have to make do with a white casing. Plenty of third-party iPhone shells are readily available in various Chinese online marketplaces such as Alibaba and AliExpress.
