Moto X Pure Edition Spotted On GFXBench With Android 7.1.1 Nougat: OS Update Coming Soon?

The Moto X Pure Edition, known as the Moto X Style for users outside the United States, was spotted on the GFXBench processor benchmark test website running Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Motorola previously revealed that the Moto X Pure Edition, which is currently running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, will soon receive an update to the latest version of Google's mobile operating system. With the GFXBench sighting, could the Android 7.1.1 Nougat launch for the smartphone be drawing nearer?

Moto X Smartphones On Android 7.1.1 Nougat

Earlier in the month, the Moto X Pure Edition's cousin, the Moto X Play, was also spotted on GFXBench with Android 7.1.1 Nougat installed.

Motorola has previously rolled out Android 7.0 Nougat for only two of its smartphones, namely the Moto Z and the fourth-generation Moto G. It seems that, with the GFXBench sightings, Motorola is skipping to release Android 7.0 Nougat in other smartphones and jumping directly into Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

With the latest sighting of Android 7.1.1 Nougat on GFXBench, it seems like the Moto X Pure and the Moto X Play will soon be upgraded to the latest version of Android. The question is when the update will be rolled out, and which of the two smartphones will receive it first.

Motorola And The Moto X Line

The Moto X Pure Edition is the last Moto X device released by Motorola in 2015, with the line being the company's flagship series before it rolled out the Moto Z smartphones.

The first Moto X smartphone was released in August 2013, and for the line, Motorola unconventionally focused on software optimization instead of high-powered specifications. The decision worked incredibly well for Motorola, and while later products in the line slightly deviated from the concept, the Moto X line remains one of the most iconic series of Android smartphones ever.

The Moto X Pure has been the subject of several sales over the course of the year, with the 16 GB version being sold at only $299.99 for both Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat Release

Earlier in the month, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update was said to be imminent for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, with the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge plus, and the Galaxy Note 5 to follow. However, a recent report revealed that not all devices will skip directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat, as some regions will be receiving an Android 7.0 Nougat update instead.

For Google Pixel and Pixel XL owners, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat is also said to be fixing certain coonectivity problems that users have been experiencing.
