Sunset Overdrive, a high-energy, goofy and extremely fun game that plays the apocalypse simply for fun.
One of the interesting things about Sunset Overdrive is the fact it's an apocalyptic game that's not drowning in shades of gray. Instead, its colors are vivid, more along the lines of what you'd find in an amusement park.
To start the game users can customize the gender, ethnicity and look of their player, after which the game begins.
The developers of Sunset Overdrive, Insomniac Games, have done a great job of creating a world that users can fully take advantage of, whether that means grinding along power lines or jumping off cars. While users can teleport around the city, it seems to be much more fun to get to different locations manually.
Users can also stop and change the look of their avatar, the protagonist, at any point in the game. This includes changing skin color, facial hair, gender, clothing and so on.
The goal is to eliminate an evil corporation that has unleashed orange-colored goo on the citizens of the city. Along the way, users have to defeat different "OD," or "Overcharge Drinkers," of which there are a number of different types. Some of them explode if users get too close, and some respawn enemies.
Users will also run into criminals that can get in the way of things from time to time. While they are never too hard to beat, it is an interesting touch. In fact, none of the enemies are really very tough. Some are certainly interesting and fun, but the game isn't aimed at being impossible to beat.
Another thing to note is the humor aspect, such as the fact that every once in a while it will tear down the fourth wall to remind players they're playing a video game.
Overall, the game is fun and entertaining. The nature of the open world that the game is set in means that users can embark on a number of different side missions to find different items.
Sunset Overdrive is an entertaining game that provides players with a refreshing take on apocalyptic games. The customization options in it are great and its humor is equally as good. People who are constantly playing video games could get a lot out of Sunset Overdrive, which offers a nice break from other games out there.
