Suicide Squad Video Game Cancelled: WB Montreal Pushing New Batman Game With Damian Wayne

Warner Bros. Montreal, the developer behind the Batman: Arkam games, is apparently putting its focus behind a Batman game starring Damian Wayne as the Cape Crusader. Furthermore, any plans for a Suicide Squad video game is no longer in play.

We've been hearing for quite some time that WB Montreal has been thinking about creating a new Batman game, but instead of having Bruce Wayne at the helm, his son, Damian Wayne, would put on the cowl. It has been a popular rumor, and its popularity continues to this very day due to another rumor.

Suicide Squad Game Gets The Cut

Latest report from Kotaku claims the developer has decided to throw the rumored Suicide Squad game under the rug. This is due to issues at the company, and also because the game has been in development for the last two-years, despite that it failed to impress top executives.

We can't be sure what this game would have been like, but we can guess that like the comics and the 2016 movie, Suicide Squad would be about a group of super villains out to fight bad guys at the stern requests of the government and Amanda Waller.

It would seem as if the Suicide Squad game was a big deal seeing as Warner Bros. has yet to release a DC team-based video game. With the countless amount of villains in the Suicide Squad, a game like this would be exceptional, if done well, of course.

We understand the Damian Wayne game should have been announced this December. However, trouble with the team managed to push back the announcement to a unspecified date, if ever.

Could A Batman Game With Damian Wayne As Lead Be Successful?

We all know Bruce Wayne, but not everyone will likely know who Damian Wayne is. For those who have no idea what's going on, well, he's the child of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul. He was raised with the mindset of The League of Assassins, and he's also a bit of a hot head.

We've seen a young version of the character and also in several animated films. His introduction in these mediums have worked out well so far, and we expect the same in the video game market if WB Montreal manages to do a great job.

Not long ago, several videos were released of a game that appears to be the new Batman game with Damian Wayne in the leading role. WB Montreal did not made any comments about the videos.
