The highly anticipated Game of Thrones game, produced by Telltale Games, is reportedly still on track to be released later this year.
News regarding the development of the game has remained tightly under wraps, however Telltale games' PR manager, Laura Perusco, took to Twitter to confirm the game would be released before the end of the year.
"No specific release date announced yet, but I can confirm that the season IS premiering later this year," said Perusco on Twitter.
The Game of Thrones adventure game was first announced in December 2013 and while it has been kept fairly secret since then, Telltale games has released a number of teasers about the setting of the game. Specifics have yet to be released, although the publishers of the game have said they will be "taking advantage of all of the series' fiction."
The company has also released a number of quotes from different books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, and we know that George R.R. Martin's personal assistant is helping consult with the story of the gane,
The announcement that the game will be released before the end of the year gives the game developers a little over two months to finally unveil it.
Telltale games has taken part in a number of popular games over the last few years and is currently working on a Borderlands spin-off called Tales from Borderlands and a third season of The Walking Dead.
The release schedule of games in November, including Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, two Assassin's Creed games, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Far Cry 4 suggests that the game could be released in early December.
Once the game is finally released it is likely it will be catapulted to similar success, with millions of fans having waited for the game to be released since December 2013. Not only that, but Telltale has done a great job of building up suspense surrounding the game, which should also help it sell once it is released to the public.
The fact that George R.R. Martin's personal assistant is helping with the story of the game should also help make sure that it sticks to the original storyline.
The Game of Thrones franchise has continued to gain success over the past few years with the book series, A Song of Ice and Fire first being released in 1996 and the television series starting in 2011.
