The next video game to come from Undead Labs, is no other than State of Decay 2, a game that many have been waiting for ever since the release of the first title back in 2013. The first game, State of Decay, was a fun title with a lot of zombies to kill, but it lacked the multiplayer experience.
Since then, fans have been asking Undead Labs to add multiplayer co-op via an update, but it never materialized, not even with the release of State of Decay: Survival Edition. However, with the sequel, this is something the developers plan to implement as an important aspect of the game.
Jeff Strain, the CEO of Undead Labs, spoke with IGN in an interview where he shared information on the size of the game's world and other things players should keep an eye out for.
Bigger World With Multiplayer Co-op
The world of State of Decay is not small by any means, but at the same time, it's not the largest either. With this mind, Undead Labs has decided to increase the size of the world in State of Decay 2.
"I know SoD fans are hungry for details on number and size of maps, regions, kilometers of playable area, etc, but we're not quite ready for that. For now, suffice it to say that the playable area is substantially larger than State of Decay," according to Strain.
The game will also support four-player multiplayer co-op, a great addition to a game that was needed in the first one. Now, for those coming from the PC game known as DayZ, they should not expect the option to grief other players. It won't be possible to attack and kill another player; however, killing NPCs is still a thing.
We also like the fact that co-op players do not have to stick around with each other. They can travel the world by their lonesome should they wish. Undead Labs is aiming to encourage teamwork, but the developer has no intention to force players to work together.
Bear in mind that killing NPCs could lead to groups within the world being hostile towards the player and the home base. It only means players must choose wisely before making decisions that could turn things upside down in an instant.
Will The Graphics Improve?
Seeing as State of Decay 2 will be exclusive to Microsoft gaming platforms such as Windows 10, Xbox One and Project Scorpio, one should expect the graphic quality to increase. There won't be an Xbox 360 version, so developers will have more room to work.
Furthermore, Undead Labs has decided to move away from Cry Engine to Unreal Engine 4, so the game should be a looker.
