The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is among the best upcoming tablets of 2017, as the release of the 2-in-1 device that will be the successor to the Surface Pro 4 is long overdue.
The rumor mill has been busy churning out reports regarding the Surface Pro 5, and the latest one reveals that the tablet will have many improvements over its predecessor.
Microsoft Surface Pro 5 With 512 GB Storage
According to recent rumors, the Surface Pro 5 will pack up to 512 GB of storage, which is double the capacity of the Surface Pro 4 with only up to 256 GB of storage.
It has previously been expected that the Surface Pro 5 will also be released with up to 256 GB of storage, in line with the Surface Pro 4, but if this rumor turns out to be true, it seems that Microsoft is looking to take the Surface Pro 5 on an entirely new level, along with the other rumored improvements for the device.
Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Improvements
In addition to the rumored increase in storage from 256 GB to 512 GB, the Surface Pro 5 is also said to feature better overall performance, including the latest Intel Kaby Lake processor and better battery life compared with the Surface Pro 4. Its predecessor came with several battery drain issues, so this improvement would be a welcome one for fans of the device.
There have also been rumors that Microsoft will be adding a USB Type-C port to the Surface Pro 5, which will also be including Thunderbolt 3.
The Surface Pen is also said to be coming with improvements, with the accessory to receive wireless charging capabilities from its magnetic dock instead of the replaceable battery in the past.
Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Rumors
Microsoft is said to be releasing the Windows 10 Redstone 2 operating system in 2017, and it is possible that the Surface Pro 5 would be running it right out of the box.
As for the device's RAM, there has so far been no news that Microsoft will be making further improvements to the 16 GB of RAM found in the Surface Pro 4.
As for the release date of the Surface Pro 5, a specific date has not yet been determined. It is rumored that the tablet will launch in spring 2017, possibly even as early as January, with the delay in the release date due to Microsoft waiting for Intel to release the Kaby Lake processor that is expected to come out at the end of this year.
