In the beginning of November, Sony began pushing out Android 7.0 Nougat to select Xperia X Performance owners enrolled in Sony's beta program. Now, the company has officially started rolling out the newest Nougat build to Xpera X Performance devices via an OTA update, bringing up the smartphone's firmware build number to 39.2.A.0.327.
Android Nougat For Xperia X Performance Now Live
The Nougat update brings to Xperia X Performance a host of features such as support for split-screen for apps, improved sensitivity of the Xperia X Performance's touch screen, additional options in the device's camera, a bug fix for the device's accelerometer and an improved Stamina mode for power saving.
The Nougat update will also roll out to Xperia X Performance Dual devices apart from the Xperia X Performance. The update will only roll out in select regions such as Australia, Latin America and Russia for the time being, according to PhoneArena, though it's a fair assumption that the update will bleed over to additional countries shortly after.
The Xperia X Performance and Xperia X Performance Dual are the first Sony smartphones to officially receive Nougat. Other companies such as Samsung and a number of others are lagging behind in terms of official Android Nougat support for its flagships.
What About Other Xperia X Devices?
Sony Xperia smartphones next in line to receive an official Nougat update are Xperia X Compact, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra. Some of these smartphones, however, aren't likely to receive the update before 2016 closes, according to PhoneArena.
