The Google Wifi router that made its debut back in October is finally ready to hit the market soon, going up for preorders with shipping set for December.
Google unveiled a range of new products at its October press event and most of those devices have already hit the market, except for Google Wifi.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL have been available for a while now, Google Home hit retail at Best Buy and others, the Daydream View and Chromecast Ultra are also on the market, so it's finally Google Wifi's turn to go on sale.
While you still can't pick one up immediately, at least Google Wifi preorders finally kicked off and the router will start reaching its new owners next month.
What Makes Google Wifi Special?
Google Wifi is not just like any other router on the market. With Google Wifi, the company wants to take a new approach to home Wi-Fi by offering tiny routers you can scatter throughout your home and get better signal everywhere.
That's not to say that a single Google Wifi router can't hold its own — it can provide good coverage for a home of up to 1,500 square feet. If that won't suffice, however, you can buy extra tiny Google Wifi routers that work together to ensure every inch of your home is covered. Buying a three-pack, for instance, will cover as much as 4,500 square feet.
