PS4 Pro 4K No Signal Issue: Here's A Possible Quick Fix

The PlayStation 4 Pro is Sony's newest video game console designed to bring 4K gaming to the masses, or at least 4K via Checkerboard rendering to be precise. The console has been doing well due to its $399.99 price tag, but nothing is ever perfect.

Here's the thing: the recent firmware update has brought to life an interesting bug, one that makes it almost impossible to play games at 4K resolution when connected to a television. Now, Sony has yet to address the situation, so it's up to players to find out how to bypass the issue.

And that they did, in quick succession no less. A PS4 Pro owner who goes by the username Bravo514 on Reddit has created a post on the popular website detailing how to get around this unfortunate problem. Furthermore, he's not alone in this as evident in the comment area.

How To Fix PS4 Pro's No Signal 4K Problem

• Make sure your PS4 is off.
• Plug the HDMI into the 4K 60hz port on your TV.
• Turn your TV on.
• Hold down the power button on your PS4 until it beeps twice (Safe mode).
• Change HDCP setting to 1.4 only.
• PS4 will restart, and you'll probably still have no signal.
• Turn PS4 off and get back to Safe Mode (step 4).
• Choose change resolution, which will restart PS4.
• If you get an image after PS4 restarts, then choose the yuv420 option. Hooray!
• If you got no signal still after PS4 restarted, then go back to safe mode and go back to HDCP and choose automatic.
• Got back to safe mode again and choose change resolution and then choose yuv420.
• If still not working, then try the above steps a couple more times.

It should be noted that this issue only affect some TVs, and from what we've come to understand from a Polygon report, it would seem the affected are LG, Hisense and Vizio TVs. Also, the problem appears to have strong relations to HDCP, which is a digital copy protection hardware that is built into the HDMI port.

Now, that's a lot of work, and as such, we can only hope Sony is working on a fix right now to release sooner rather than later. Furthermore, that's not all the company needs to fix. Apparently, some games have lower performance on the PS4 Pro when compared with the PlayStation 4.
