Telltale Working On A 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Game With Marvel: Release Expected In 2017 Alongside 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2'

Telltale Games is working with Marvel on a game based on the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, according to a document posted by the SAG-AFTRA actors union.

The leaked information reveals the first game that will be released as a result of the partnership that was formed by Marvel and Telltale Games back in 2015.

Telltale Games And Marvel Partnership

In April 2015, it was reported that Marvel would be teaming up with Telltale Games and that the first game for the partnership will be released in 2017.

There was definite excitement generated as the news broke out, as Marvel has a multitude of franchises that are ready to be brought into video games. Telltale Games has been very successful with the games that it has then released, beginning with the titles for The Walking Dead, and so fans were excited to see what the company could do using Marvel's characters.

However, since the announcement was made, there has been no further news on the partnership.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Game Revealed

Due to the ongoing strike of voice actors under SAG-AFTRA, the union released lists of video games that were affected and not affected. While most of the video games were shown with their code names, one of the documents listed Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Video Game a.k.a. Blue Harvest.

The game was listed along with The Walking Dead Season 3 under O'Farrell Enterprises, which is registered under Darragh O'Farrell. He is the voice-over producer for several Telltale Games such as The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands and more.

With the Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Video Game listed alongside The Walking Dead Season 3 under the voice-over producer of Telltale Games, the connection was made that the title is the still unannounced game that the developer is working on with Marvel.

The Blue Harvest title associated with the game in the document is the codename used for Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, which by itself feels like a Guardians of the Galaxy joke already.

Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Video Game Release Date

There is no specific release date yet for the unannounced Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Video Game, but with its release planned for next year, it is likely that it will be launching alongside the arrival of the franchise's next movie, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, in theaters.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 will start showing on May 5, 2017. It was reported early in the year that the film will be featuring perhaps one of the largest characters in the Marvel universe who is turning out to be an important part of the movie's plot and the identity of Star-Lord, Peter Quill.
