Snapchat Spectacles, Nintendo NES Classic Edition Are The Hottest Tech Products This Month, But You Can't Buy Them Yet

Snap Inc. — Snapchat's new name — and Nintendo launched the Spectacles and NES Classic Edition respectively, and they have proven to be some of the hottest tech products this month.

The wearable and the retro gaming console are terribly difficult to come by, as they sold like hotcakes when they rolled out. That means there are a lot of disappointed fans out there, and "a lot" is probably a big understatement.

Snapchat Spectacles: Wearable Tech Keeps Selling Out Fast

Priced at $129, the Spectacles were made available via one-eyed yellow vending machines called Snapbots.

The first of these wearable tech-dispensing contraptions popped up a week ago near Snap Inc.'s headquarters in South California at Venice Beach, and a line of customers quickly formed in front of it.

Needless to say, not everyone who wanted to nab one that day went home happy.

The next Snapbot appeared near Big Sur, and to no one's surprise, the people who went out to help themselves to a pair of Spectacles outnumbered the supply.

Even the early birds couldn't catch a break.

Nintendo NES Classic Edition: Demand Was Severely Underestimated

Nostalgia in a box for $59.99, the NES Classic Edition expectedly had a ton of fans waiting for the second it becomes available, but it looks like Nintendo didn't really count on that.

Packed with 30 preinstalled games, the retro console went out of stock faster than the retailers could say "Mario."

Here's hoping the same scenario won't play out when the highly anticipated Switch hits the shelves.

Your Only Chance To Get The Spectacles Or NES Classic Edition

To start things off, those who want to get the Spectacles are advised to monitor Snap Inc.'s Map page, as it'll provide users with a countdown timer of when the next Snapbot will appear — that is, if there's one that's about to be launched.

Meanwhile, the best bet for those looking to grab the NES Classic Edition is to keep tabs on the Nintendo Store in New York City because it'll likely get the first shipment of additional units when they ship out.

However, the thing is, it's only for residents who live in the city or near it. Others will have to rely on retailers such as Amazon.

Of course, there's always eBay, but the two are listed there with ridiculous prices, with the Spectacles going between $255 to a whopping $2,500 and the NES Classic Edition between $199.99 and $379.99.

Long story short, it's not easy to find the Spectacles or NES Classic Edition with reasonable prices for now, and it might take a while before they become available from official sources again.

That said, exercising patience is sorely needed right now, but if astronomical prices aren't a turnoff, then by all means.
