The iPad Pro 2, the successor of the iPad Pro, has been in the news for some time now as Apple fans eagerly await the refresh of the 12.9-inch tablet.
We round up the estimated release date, specs, alleged features and upgrades of the impending device as gleaned from analysts' assertions, rumors and leaks.
iPad Pro 2 Rumored Specs And Features
Like the original 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the iPad Pro 2 is also expected to sport a 12.9-inch display, but this will be a True Tone one like that on the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.
The True Tone feature will enable a user to alter the color temperature of the tablet's screen on the basis of the ambient lighting of the environment one is using the device in. The user will be able to see the images on the screen with clarity irrespective of the environment.
Interestingly, the company is also anticipated to unleash a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro, according to KGI Analyst Ming Chi-Kuo who is pretty accurate when it comes to Apple predictions.
"We expect three new iPads (12.9" iPad Pro 2, new size 10.5" iPad Pro & low-cost 9.7" iPad) to be launched in 2017," forecasted the analyst in August.
It will also likely have 4 GB of RAM and come preloaded with iOS 10.
iPad Pro 2 Upgrades Expected
The iPad Pro 2 is also expected to become thinner when compared to the previous iteration and have better Apple Pencil integration.
The new Apple device may also house the A10X processor and rumors also hint at a faster display technology for the next-gen tablet. Thanks to this technology, the iPad Pro 2 will show off smoother animation.
A leak from Geekbench suggests that the device will be far more powerful than its predecessor. The benchmark listing points to single-core and multi-core scores of 4,236 and 6,588, respectively. By comparison, the previous iteration has a multi-core score of 5,472.
Like the iPhone 7 Plus, the iPad Pro 2 could boast a dual-camera setup and also have Touch ID support. Rumors also hint at the tablet being water- and dust-resistant as well as having a pressure-sensitive home button.
It could also have an improved 12-megapixel primary camera, a 5-megapixel selfie camera and support for 4K video recording.
iPad Pro 2 Release Date Rumors
While previous rumors hinted at the iPad Pro 2 debuting in October this year - a year after the original iPad Pro debuted - speculations are rife that the device will launch in March 2017, possibly alongside the iPad mini 5.
