Nintendo Black Friday 2016 Deals: You Can Buy New 3DS For $100

The holiday season is one of the most awaited times of the year for tech lovers as OEMs and retailers offer great deals on a wide variety of products. This year, Black Friday is on Nov. 25 and Nintendo has revealed one of its deals on the Nintendo 3DS.

On Monday, Nov. 7 the handheld game console maker announced that starting Nov. 25 the Nintendo 3DS will be available in two special-edition models: one black and one white, both with Mushroom Kingdom characters and imagery on the case. Mario, Luigi, coins and piranha plants are some of the things that appear on the special-edition Nintendo 3DS case.

The company claims that this will be the first time that the handheld device will be made available for $99.99. With the latest deal, Nintendo wants to attract gift-givers as well as shoppers this holiday season. A new Nintendo 3DS with Super Mario 3D Land pre-installed and two extra interchangeable Mario-themed cover plates has a price tag of $149.99 at Target.

Doug Bowser, the senior vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo America, says that this holiday season Nintendo has some of the best gifts at a great value.

Games For The Nintendo 3DS

The $99.99 Nintendo 3DS does not come with games but the company has a massive library of games to choose from. Customers can pick newly released games such as Mario Party Star Rush, Pokémon Sun, Pokémon Moon and more for their latest Nintendo handheld.

Gamers can also check the company's official Holiday Gift Guide for discounts, bundles and special offers on games this holiday season.

"Fans who want to build up their Nintendo 3DS game libraries can turn to evergreen classics like Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land or The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds," says Nintendo.

Nintendo XL

Nintendo does not mention anything about any upcoming deals for the 3DS XL. Customers will hope that the console maker will announce some deals on the 3DS XL during the holiday season. A brand-new Nintendo 3DS XL costs $199.99.

The company also highlighted that a number of new games such as an upcoming Pikmin game, Ever Oasis and more will also be available for the Nintendo 3DS in 2017.

Nintendo Switch

Although the Nintendo 3DS deal is very attractive, gamers should note that the company is also planning to launch a new hybrid console called Switch in 2017. A previous Tech Times report highlighted that the Switch may hit the shelves in March next year. Gamers will have to make a call whether to save for Nintendo's Switch or buy the 3DS for $99.99 this holiday season.
