The Title Of Lara Croft's Next Adventure Leaked Because Somebody Was Working On A 'Tomb Raider' Presentation In The Subway

It looks like we now know the title for the next game in the refreshed Tomb Raider franchise, with the leak happening because somebody was working on a presentation for it in a Montreal subway.

According to Redditor Tripleh280, he was riding on a subway train in Montreal when he spotted someone working on what looks like a presentation on a laptop. He then proceeded to take a picture of the laptop's screen and uploaded the image to the popular online forum.

A closer look at the image reveals that the presentation is for a game entitled Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which, according to Kotaku, is a title that it has heard to be a possible one for Lara Croft's next adventure. Kotaku then confirmed through a source that the leaked title is indeed the name for the next Tomb Raider game, following Tomb Raider in 2013 and Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015.

While changes can still be made before the official announcement, it seems that the leak is a legitimate one, and the person who was working on the presentation in the subway just spoiled the surprise for the next Tomb Raider game.

Tripleh280 told Kotaku that the page that the person was working on while in the subway was on the game's visuals. He said that he was on the train to work and just took a quick picture but could not say any more details, as all the other text on the screen was blurry from where he was standing.

For those who are skeptical of the authenticity of the leak, the detail that stands out as a possible mistake is that the image was said to be taken in Montreal, when Crystal Dynamics, the developer of the first two titles in the rebooted Tomb Raider franchise, is located in San Francisco. However, it should be noted that Eidos Montreal, a large studio of Square Enix, is said to be involved with the development of the game, making the location of the image a correct one.

Square Enix did not confirm if the leaked title was true, with a representative merely stating that the company does not provide comments on rumors and speculation.

Rise of the Tomb Raider, which was originally launched for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One in November 2015 and then released for the PC in January, finally landed on the PlayStation 4 in October. Players, however, are not recommended to try playing the Blood Ties DLC of the game on the PlayStation VR headset, as it leads to a terrible experience.
