LG V20 Root Already Out, Allowing Tweakers To Install TWRP And Flash SuperSU

The LG V20 is one of the most powerful smartphones to come out this year, and those looking for some extra power can now root their devices.

While the LG V20 may not be as intensely hyped as the Google Pixel, iPhone 7 or other 2016 flagship smartphones, it's arguably a powerhouse and the developer community was bound to show some interest in tweaking with the device.

Various U.S. carriers have been offering the smartphone for over a week and the unlocked LG V20 just went up for preorder ahead of its November release, so it definitely didn't take long for the lucrative folks over at XDA developers to come up with a root.

As always with root solutions, keep in mind that all those who root their devices do so at their own expense, and rooting voids the device warranty. Moreover, rooting also involves some risk, so caution is advised. With that said, LG V20 owners (or future owners) who want to proceed with the rooting can rely on XDA to do the trick.

XDA members worked together for the LG 20 root and the method entails installing TWRP on the smartphone and using it to flash SuperSU. The super user access tool called SuperSU enables users to control SU rights access to restricted areas of the device, which are only opened up with the root.

Simply put, rooting allows users to tweak their devices and meddle with things that are normally out of reach beyond system applications.

The solution available now on XDA to root the LG V20 seems to be reasonably stable and easy to use, with a number of users already reporting that they've managed to successfully root their device.

As a reminder, the LG V20 features a sleek 5.7-inch QHD (2K) display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, solid 4 GB of RAM, 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel selfie cam, 3,200 mAh battery and Android 7.0 Nougat straight out of the box.

With specs like these, the LG V20 is no doubt a top contender, but LG's custom user interface doesn't really suit everyone's taste. Some prefer to get rid of that UI by rooting their device and pushing it to do more, adding a little extra oomph.

Those who are aware of the risks but are willing to proceed with the LG V20 root can head over to the XDA Developers forum, read everything carefully, make the necessary downloads and follow the instructions precisely.
