Google Offering Some Pixel And Pixel XL Customers Free $50 Google Play Credit

If you ordered a Pixel or Pixel XL from Google and still haven't gotten gotten it or just received it, you might have a gift on the way. Pixel buyers on Reddit have received emails from Google apologizing for the delay and giving a $50 Play Credit.

Apple and Google are benefiting the most from Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. The two companies have both released next-generation flagship smartphones that run the latest version of each company's mobile OS, iOS 10 and Android 7.1 Nougat.

iPhone 7 And iPhone 7 Plus Demand

While Apple officially released the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on Sept. 16, the handsets quickly sold out. While the availability of the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 has improved, the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus shows a three- to four-week shipping time from Apple's online store and tracking the phablet down in one of its retail stores is a virtually impossible feat.

Pixel And Pixel XL Supply Exceeds Demand

Google just launched its new Pixel and Pixel XL, which are only available from one U.S. carrier, Verizon, but can also be purchased from Google's online store to use on other carriers, like AT&T and T-Mobile. Demand for the 5-inch Pixel and 5.5-inch Pixel XL has exceeded expectations, according from a statement from Google.

According to a message on Reddit, Pixel customers who have yet to receive their Pixel or Pixel XL or just got the handset have received emails from Google apologizing for the delay and providing the customers with a generous $50 Google Play credit to make up for the delay.

"Hello there --
Thank you for your recent purchase on Google Store. We're really excited for you to experience our new products, but we have some not-so-great news: It's going to take a little longer for you to receive your package than we expected. We know this can be frustrating, but the good news is that we've shipped your order and it's on its way. You should've already received a shipment confirmation email from us. We're also going to send you a $50 Google Play credit via email soon after your package is delivered. Again, we're so sorry - and thank you again for your order.
Sincerely,

The Google Store Team," wrote a Reddit user.

This only applies to Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones ordered directly from Google and not Verizon. The carrier is also facing significant delays with getting orders out - the 128 GB Google Pixel XL is completely sold out and shipments are expected to be delivered on Nov. 18.
