Warner Brothers and director Zack Snyder are working on the sequel to Man of Steel, which will see Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. However, there's a new development brewing.
According to a report by Variety, apparently, Fast and the Furious star Gal Gadot has been chosen to play the role as Wonder Woman in the upcoming film. This is a big deal since the possible inclusion of Wonder Woman has been one of the most talked about aspects of the hugely anticipated film.
"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe," director Zack Snyder said of the casting. "Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."
It is not certain if Wonder Woman will appear in the new film as a cameo character or someone with an important role. After all, the movie is a sequel to Man of Steel, which will focus on the relationship between Superman and Batman.
We understand that Gal Gadot was not the only female aiming for the role of Wonder Woman. Quantum of Solace's Olga Kurylenko, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation's Elodie Yung both tried out for the Wonder Woman role but ultimately failed.
Furthermore, Variety adds that the plan is not only to have Batman and Superman in the film, but several members of the Justice League. Some reports are claiming that the Flash and Nightwing might also feature in the film though it is not certain in what form. Moreover, the Flash might be the same character from the hit TV series, Arrow. If that is the case, then DC might be on the verge of merging both the movie and TV series universes as one, similar to what Marvel has done.
When it comes down to the villain, 300: Rise of an Empire star, Callan Mulvey, could be cast as Lex Luthor.
