The Xbox One gets regular updates every month, but for the November update, the game console will finally allow users to customize the desktop background. This is the number one fan-requested feature, making an initial debut for preview members.
Users can choose a custom color or some sort of an accomplished piece of art as the Xbox One background. The Gamer Profile will now allow users to share their location and bio.
For Twitter users, they can also link their Twitter account to Xbox One. Tweets, such as game clips, can be shared using the service for the first time.
The Xbox One's integration with the new Live TV and Twitter will let users discover new shows that they love. They can also get real-time reviews about the show on Twitter.
Twitter itself has tied into the new What's On tab, which places a focus on TV shows that are currently popular. Users can tweet along using the TV OneGuide. Moreover, the tab features the currently popular Twitch streams.
The Xbox One's Twitter integration sets it on par with the Sony PS4, which has been enjoying Twitter integration for quite some time now.
The MiniGuide feature has been updated to enable users to include their favorite TV channels in the common area of Recents and Favorites. It also recognizes one's voice and can be activated by simply saying: "Xbox Select MiniGuide" while watching TV.
The upcoming firmware includes Store improvements and SmartGlass updates. The improved Store pages make it easier for the user to browse and find content. Users will notice that the navigation buttons have been moved to the far left for easier searching. Game add-ons can now be easily searched. Users can conduct store specific searches and take advantage of the prominently displayed recommendations. Store categories are more standardized to enable the users to easily view the top items in each query easily.
Users will also see a friends list: individuals in their network who have already played a game on Xbox One SmartGlass. Gamers who have an Xbox Live Gold subscription can browse discounted content and "Free Games with Gold." They can even download the content from their mobile handsets to the Xbox One console.
Other notable improvements include the Xbox One's Internet Explorer app that can be snapped to show when a new addition to the featured sites has been made and also the Preview dashboard app, which allows the user on a preview program to earn points for giving feedback and shows how one stacks up against friends on the leaderboard.
