Huawei Honor 6X Packs Dual Main Cameras For $150: Preorders Now Open In China

Huawei Honor, the company's subsidiary brand, officially announced its Honor 6X during a special event in China.

The upcoming Huawei Honor 6X smartphone is the company's successor to one of the most popular midrange gadgets this year, the Honor 5X.

It's safe to say, judging from Huawei Honor's success, that it has done a good job in packing the Huawei Honor 6X with premium features, which will definitely help them attract more customers even in this crowded mid-range smartphone category.

To be successful, Honor included dual main camera sensors together with the phone's standard features.

Design And Specifications

The Huawei Honor 6X has a striking resemblance to the Huawei Mate 8 phone mainly because it borrowed a lot of its design aesthetics from the latter. The arrangement of the dual cameras and fingerprint sensor is in a vertical manner. Overall, the device has nice curved edges and back for a better ergonomic feel. The front also looks like other Honor smartphones with its very narrow bezels and the "Honor" branding located at the bottom of the display.

Huawei Honor 6X rocks a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. A 2.5D curved glass covers the entire display panel for a smoother gesture execution, theoretically speaking.

Under the hood, Huawei Honor 6X has a HiSilicon Kirin 655 SoC 16nm chipset powering it. The chipset sports 4 Cortex A53 at 2.1 GHz and 4 Cortex A53 at 1.75 GHz to make the device octa-core. For the graphics, a Mali T830 MP2 chip was included, which is capable of handling graphically demanding applications.

Huawei announced that the Honor 6X will come in three variants — a 3 GB RAM with 32 GB internal storage, 4 GB RAM with 32 GB internal storage and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage. Additionally, all three variants have microSD support for those who are looking to expand the device's storage capacity.

Main Features

The selling point of Huawei's Honor 6X is its dual main camera feature. Despite it being a mid-range device, it packs a 12-megapixel main shooter with 6P lens and a 2-megapixel secondary camera for grabbing depth of field in the photos. The front-facing camera is 8 megapixels.

Below the dual cameras is a fingerprint sensor that reportedly unlocks the device in a span of 0.3 seconds.

Other Specifications

For connectivity, Huawei Honor 6X is capable of 4G VoLTE receptions. It also has a dual SIM card tray, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS sensor and Wi-Fi connection. It rocks a 3,340 mAh battery that is capable of fast-charging.

Out of the box, all three variants of the Huawei Honor 6X runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 atop the company's EMUI 4.1 OS.

Pricing And Availability

As per Huawei's announcement, the Honor 6X will come in Rose Gold, Blue, Silver, Grey and Gold colors. The 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage variant will be sold for $150 or 999 yuan. The 4 GB RAM with 32 GB storage option costs 1,299 yuan or about $200. Lastly, the 4 GB RAM with 64 GB memory sells for 1,599 yuan or $250.

Preorders for the Huawei Honor 6X begins today in China, and the smartphones will start hitting the market by Oct. 25. News of its release in Europe, Asia and the United States has not yet been confirmed at this time.
