Apple rolled out the new iOS 10.0.3 update on Monday, Oct. 17 finally adding a priority bug fix that should resolve the iPhone 7 connectivity issues.
This update was highly anticipated as a number of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 users experienced annoying connectivity issues with the smartphones' Bluetooth and LTE. Apple has now issued a priority bug fix to address the temporary cellular drops the latest iPhones have been facing.
It's worth pointing out that the bug did not affect all iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 units, but the issue did seem to be widespread enough. At the same time, the latest iOS 10.0.3 update is not available to all iPhone and iPad models, as it's specifically aimed at the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus only. Other iOS devices will likely skip straight to higher iOS 10 versions in the future.
As for the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, their connectivity issues should now be a thing of the past. Prior to this update, some users had to turn off Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in order to get reception when their cellular connectivity dropped. The new iOS 10.0.3 takes care of that, but users will have to turn VoLTE back on manually after the update, as the feature will not re-enable itself automatically.
To download and install the latest iOS 10.0.3 update, head over to Settings on your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, tap General and access Software update. Alternately, you can connect your smartphone to your Mac and update via iTunes, if you so prefer.
It remains unclear just what caused the connectivity issues in the first place, as Apple did not offer any details in this regard. iPhone 7 owners simply started reporting in late September and early October that their smartphone would randomly lose LTE signal all of a sudden, while also showing a "No Service" icon when trying to use Waze or Google Maps, particularly when dealing with Verizon's network.
Whatever the root cause of the problem was, the official fix should take care of all that. If you've been experiencing connectivity issues and already installed the latest iOS 10.0.3 update, drop by our comment section below and let us know if things are now working as they should.
In separate news, some iPhone 7 units have also been experiencing issues with the home button on occasion. This update doesn't address that matter, but Apple came up with a clever quick fix to address the matter temporarily, until users can get their smartphone serviced.
