Google Pixel Rumors: Retailers Leak Images, Specs Of Upcoming Smartphones Ahead Of Google Pixel Release Date

As the launch of Google Pixel and Pixel XL on Oct. 4 draws near, the leaks of the upcoming flagship smartphones are gaining traction.

Close on the heels of Canadian carriers Bell and Telus listing the Google Pixel XL and Google Pixel, as well as renders of the devices leaking thanks to noted leakster @evleaks, UK-based retailer Carphone Warehouse has also hopped on the bandwagon.

However, Carphone Warehouse has not only shared an image of the two smartphones, but also their specifications.

On Oct. 2, the third-party retailer, rolled out its promo page for the Google Pixel, which has several official-looking press renders of the impending smartphone. However, at the time of writing, the retailer had pulled down the live promo page, but not before screenshots were snapped by publications.

Google Pixel And Pixel XL Specs

According to the leak, the smaller Google Pixel will weigh just 143 g (5 ounces) and measures 143.8 x 69.5 x 8.6 mm (5.7 x 2.7 x 0.3 inches). It will sport a 5-inch FHD AMOLED screen, be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.15 GHz and 4 GB of RAM. The handset will also offer support for 32 GB or 128GB onboard storage, as well as a microSD card (expandable to 256 GB).

Running on Android 7.1 Nougat, the Google Pixel will sport a 12-megapixel primary and 8-megapixel secondary camera. It will house a 2,770 mAh battery.

Bigger sibling Google Pixel XL will boast a 5.5-inch QHD screen and weigh 168 g (5.9 ounces). The phablet will measure 154.7 x 75.7 x 8.6 mm (6.1 x 3 x 0.3 inches) according to the listing. Other specs are similar to the Google Pixel, barring the battery, which is a 3,450 mAh one.

This is not the first time renders of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL have leaked online. For the unfamiliar, Tech Times has reported that a Reddit user shared the news that an order form on Canadian carrier Bell's website showed off the white variant of the Pixel and Pixel XL.

The listing on Bell's site did not offer any other pricing details for the upcoming handsets. The network operator did not even put the two smartphones up for preorder despite proclaiming "order yours today." This listing, nevertheless, gave a peek into the much-awaited Google Pixel launcher, as well as the handset's front-facing camera.

Bell was not the only network operator to have offered a peek into the Pixel and Pixel XL. Two days prior to the official debut, Canadian carrier Telus also leaked images of the two phones in black and white color options.

Moreover, as reported by Tech Times, an alleged press image of the Google Pixel leaked courtesy Evan Blass (who goes by the twitter handle @evleaks) on Sept. 27. The press image showed off the device's UI and one could see the circular launcher icons, as well as the Pixel Launcher.

Thanks to the image users also get a peek for the first time at the navigation icons for the Google Pixel, which were not the traditional black background and white border combination that is synonymous with navigation buttons for Android.

The leaks also showed the Google Pixel sporting a different home button compared to initial leaks: a solid circle outlined by a bigger circle, instead of a solid circle with colors.

A day after Blass shared the leaked renders of Google Pixel, he followed it up with a picture of the bigger sibling Google Pixel XL. This too showed off the same icons, launcher and navigation buttons as the Google Pixel, but sported a different wallpaper — a gradient one.

With Oct. 4 knocking on the door, people can only wait and watch what surprises, if any, are in store. The pricing and availability of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL are still a mystery to look forward to.
