No stranger to playing on-screen adaptions of iconic figures, Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale is in negotiations to play Apple's Steve Jobs in a new biopic.
Jobs, the biopic from Sony, will be based on the Walther Isaacson's biography Steve Jobs. Danny Boyle is set to direct the biopic David Fincher backed out of last March.
Known for his role as Batman, Bale will star in the drama after top pic Leonardo DiCaprio declined the roll two weeks ago. DiCaprio reportedly turned down the role to take some time off from acting.
Written by The Social Network screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, the film will consist of three long scenes that include Apple's major milestones of its product launches. "The first one being the Mac, the second one being NeXT, after he had left Apple, and the third one being the iPod," says Sorkin.
The biopic is not connected to last year's Steve Jobs film starring Ashton Kutcher. Sony acquired the rights after Job's death in 2011.
Sorkin said writing about Jobs is like "writing about the Beatles." He adds, "There are so many people out there that know him and revere him."
Bale is expected to starting filming the biopic in the spring.
