The Origins Of 'Dragon Ball Super's' Goku Black Mave Have Just Leaked

Over the past few months the ongoing Dragon Ball Super anime airing in Japan has centered around a new villain by the name of Goku Black. He is, for all intents and purposes, an evil, earring-wearing version of Goku from the future. He even uses a powerful new form of Super Saiyan, called Super Saiyan Rose.

Where did he come from? Who is he really? What's up with those earrings? Those are all questions fans have been asking, and now it appears there is an answer, thanks to a leaked Japanese television guide.

Spoilers below!

Via Kotaku, episode 60 and 61 will both help to reveal the origins of Goku Black. Episode 60 is titled "Return to the Future: Revealing Goku Black's True Form." However, despite the episode name, Goku Black's real form won't actually be revealed until Episode 61, titled "Goku Black's True Form Revealed."

The episode 61 listed in the television guide clearly states that the character Zamasu is behind Goku Black. Zamasu, the guide writes, used the Dragon Balls in the future to change bodies and minds with Goku.

That news likely won't be shocking for many fans who have kept up with the series. The fan theory that Zamasu and Goku Black are one and the same has been around for a while, with fans picking up on the fact that both characters share similar facial features as well as earrings. Some fans have even pointed out in fan theory videos that Goku Black and Zamasu even use similar fighting techniques and emit an almost identical aura. The only aspect that had thrown fans off so far was that Goku Black and Zamasu have been shown together, but that's not much of an issue if Goku Black is Zamasu from the future (or another timeline).

It also raises the fascinating possibility of there being a Goku in the body of Zamasu. The television guide episode synopsis clearly states that Zamasu didn't simply take control of Goku's body, but swapped bodies and minds with him. If that's the case, there could be a Zamasu from the future who is actually Goku.

Fans will have to wait a little longer to turn out if this leak is the real deal, but it's worth remembering that early leaks about the show's Super Saiyan Rose form also came from a Japanese television guide. You can read more about the powerful new form of Super Saiyan here.
