PicsArt has quickly become a popular photo editing app as it just announced it now has more than 80 million monthly active users. While users can do everything from try out the mermaid look or try the galaxy freckles, the company decided, why not allow users to add effects to their videos to further enhance these works of art as well?
So, now, PicsArt announced the launch of a new video editing app on Wednesday that taps into artificial intelligence technology in order to make users' videos magically come alive like never before.
Called Magic Effects, the app transforms a typical video into a moving painting that is as creative as it is captivating.
The app works by using AI to analyze a photo or video to then make it move when a particular effect is used. While the company says that the process behind it all is "complicated," it simplifies things by revealing that it uses the artificial intelligence to "train" each of its effects.
After downloading the app, the user starts by trimming the video they want to edit to be just a short clip. They then select and customize 10 different kinds of effects that are featured in the app. These include: Dystopia, Flare, Sketchy, De Style, Animation, Neo Pop, Plein Air, Rainbow and Sprayed.
When the desired effect is applied, Magic Video will get to work to create the masterpiece, which generally takes a few seconds to complete.
Each of these effects brings its own artistic flair to a video, allowing the user to vibrantly express themselves and channel their inner Andy Warhol.
Along with this new editing app, PicsArt also announced the launch of its Photo Studio app, which features a new redesign and more than 3,000 editing tools. It also includes a new feature called "Remix Me!," which serves as a community editing experience. When a user taps on Remix Me!, they will be able to create their own version of the same image that is free to edit for that day. They can also view all the community creations and discover new trends in the new gallery.
The update to PicsArt and the new Magic Video app are both available to download now for free for iOS, and will roll out for Android over the next few days.
