Samsung drew a lot of attention after it rolled out two new flagships this year, the Galaxy S7 with its edge variant and the Galaxy Note 7, and it even scored a record stock value in August.
However, the company lost a few fans in the wake of its inflammable Note 7 scandal, which culminated with the callback of 2.5 million units.
Luckily for those who are Samsung loyalists on a budget, the company has a slew of smartphones targeted at them. The OEM has in tow a few midrange handsets that come with decent processing power and an affordable price tag, and some of them even pack neat technical specs.
Such a notable example is the C series of smartphones from the company, which currently counts the Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7. Rumors have now surfaced about the launch of a new product in the line, namely the Galaxy C9. Insiders familiar with the matter are touting that the phone is codenamed "Amy," and additional sources say its model number is SM-C9000.
The device's existence was confirmed by Zauba earlier this year, and a new rumor gives a narrow timeframe for the release of the device.
If the leak is to be believed, the Galaxy C9 is bound to arrive between October and November 2016.
So far, all the information about the Galaxy C9 should be taken with a grain of salt, but some safe assumptions can be made by looking at the technical specs of previous models in the series.
If the C9 aims to be better than its predecessors, we can assume that it will pack at least a phablet-sized 5.7-inch display, or even a 6-inch screen. The C7 model comes with a display measuring 5.7-inch.
Keep in mind that these are not premium level smartphones, so we will probably not see Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 equipping the C9. However, the CPU from the C7 was pretty quick and the C9 chipset will probably overpass it in both single and multi-core performance. We expect the 4 GB of RAM for the C7 to be in place in the C9 as well.
The Galaxy C9 will probably benefit from the standard storage space of 32 GB. Looking at previous examples of midrange phones, we can commend Samsung for packing an SD card slot for extra storage capacity.
As the main camera on the C7 was a 16-megapixel, we expect nothing less from the C9. Some extra features for the camera on C7 are welcome, and there is a good chance Samsung will throw in some surprises when it launches the upcoming Galaxy C9.
Stay tuned!
