Apple Is Asking MacBook Pro Owners If They Use The Headphone Jack: Will The Port Be Available In the 2016 Version?

Apple has recently been sending surveys to MacBook Pro owners over past few weeks, with the questions focusing on the features of the laptop.

One of the more notable survey questions focuses on the headphone jack, and for Apple users who are against the port's removal from the iPhone 7, this could mean another heartache in the future.

"Do you ever use the headphone port on your MacBook Pro with Retina display?" Apple asks in the survey, which was reported by several Twitter users.

The survey question suggests that Apple is also thinking about removing the headphone jack for the MacBook Pro, continuing the trend from the iPhone 7.

The decision to do so has been met with mixed reactions, but with Apple deciding to go ahead with the headphone jack removal in the iPhone 7, the company could now be looking to make the same changes in its other products.

When will Apple remove the headphone jack from the MacBook Pro? The answer to that question remains unclear. Surely the 2016 MacBook Pro will still have the port, which should give a small sense of appeasement to Apple users who have still not accepted the headphone jack's removal from the iPhone 7.

According to a leaked shell of the computer, the upcoming 2016 MacBook pro will have four USB-C ports in addition to the headphone jack, with Apple dropping the SD card slot, the USB-A port, the HDMI port and the MagSafe connection. Will the headphone jack be next?

In the survey for MacBook Pro owners, Apple has also asked questions on other aspects of the computer, including its other ports, battery life and the means of uploading pictures to the MacBook Pro from a smartphone or camera.

Based on what we know so far on the new MacBook Pro, it will have a smaller footprint and will be using specialized hinges to make it thinner, with 13-inch and 15-inch models supposedly to be released. The familiar function keys at the top of the keyboard are also said to be replaced by an OLED touch bar.

This year's MacBook Pro will be powered by Intel Skylake chips, with users requiring more graphics processing power also having the option for AMD Polaris units. The computer will also have TouchID technology under its power button, similar to the recent iPhones.

The 2016 MacBook Pro is expected to be announced and launched next month, with macOS Sierra already installed.
