Naruto's son Baruto is in the spotlight now more than ever. He is the star of his own manga series, and it seems likely he will have his own anime soon to boot.
Perhaps it shouldn't be surprising, then, that Baruto is also set to take the video game world by storm, first by appearing in Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 next year.
The $19.99 Road to Baruto story DLC expansion will allow players to take control of the young hero and play through the events of Baruto: Naruto the Movie, which released last year in Japan. According to Anime News Network, players will also be able to play through some of the events of the Baruto manga series. The DLC will add both Baruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha to the game's free play mode as well, and unlock new areas of the Hidden Leaf Village for players to explore.
Road to Baruto will arrive on Feb. 3, 2017 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam. Japan will be getting a physical released of the DLC that comes with Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 and the rest of the game's various DLC content in one package, though that doesn't seem likely to make it West.
It seems to be great timing on Bandai Namco's part. Rumor has it the Baruto anime will be unveiled later this year, so having a Baruto DLC for the latest Naruto game ready shortly after is certain to please fans of the franchise. Even the name of the DLC itself, Road to Baruto, seems to imply there is more to come from the character, so perhaps fans will see even more of Naruto's son in the video game world soon.
As for what the creator of Naruto, Mashashi Kishimoto, is planning on doing next now that he's left the world of ninjas behind? That's still a mystery. He finished his work on the Naruto manga two years ago, and since then has taken a well-deserved break. He is, however, planning on unveiling a new sci-fi project soon, though further details about what Kishimoto is cooking up are virtually nonexistent.
Also, while the Naruto manga is finished, the anime is still going. Recently, at long last, fans got a glimpse of series favorite Kakashi Hatake, though the reveal likely wasn't what most fans expected. You can read more about that here.
