Destiny's Rise of Iron expansion isn't out quite yet, but that hasn't stopped players from discovering everything from new weapons to armor that goes above what was believed to be the game's current Light Level cap.
The Destiny subreddit has rounded up a giant list of unannounced changes to the game that didn't appear in Bungie's official patch notes. The biggest surprise is a brand new gun, a sidearm called the Trespasser that fires in bursts with deadly accuracy. Bungie has confirmed that it's not a glitch, and that the gun is available intentionally. It can currently be obtained from exotic engrams. Players have also discovered that boots and helmets with Light Levels above what was believed to be the game's Light Level cap of 335 can be obtained either from exotic engrams or from specific bounties. Players can also preview the new "ornaments" coming to the game, which serve as skins for various weapons.
There are plenty of other changes as well. Infusing an exotic weapon into another exotic no longer requires an exotic shard, some blue engrams are now decrypting into exotics and tons of other, more minor changes can be found in-game right now. You can read about all the unannounced changes here, and no doubt, players will continue to discover new secrets over the next few weeks leading up to Rise of Iron.
The discoveries come just a day after Bungie's official patch notes and weapons update. Nearly every weapon type in Destiny has been adjusted in some way ahead of Rise of Iron's release, with a number of exotic weapons also being touched upon. Sidearms in particular received a prominent buff in the patch, so players might want to go ahead and hunt down the newly-released Trespasser ahead of the expansion's release. You can read more about all the weapon changes here.
Destiny's Rise of Iron expansion arrives on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Sept. 20. It will be the first expansion for Destiny not released on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, though players on last-generation consoles will still be able to continue playing. Bungie is currently offering a special $20 discount for owners of Destiny: The Taken King on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 should they decide to upgrade to a current generation console and purchase Destiny: The Collection.
