German start-up Bragi unveils yet another pair of wireless earbuds simply called The Headphone, following the success of its first major product Dash.
Right off the bat, it doesn't exactly have the most straightforward name out there, as it's more like earphones rather than headphones. Looking past that, it's in many ways similar to Dash, where the two earbuds also don't have wires and have plenty of functions.
As for the rest of what it has in store, it can connect to any Bluetooth device, and it offers practically everything that typical smart earphones can nowadays, including the capabilities of answering phone calls, responding to voice commands and playing and switching songs without the help of another gadget.
What's interesting here is that it also features Audio Transparency, a feature that allows users to hear the noise outside while wearing The Headphone. If that sounds familiar, it's because it is. Dash already came with it, and it's similar to the ambient sound mode of the Samsung IconX too.
Of course, it has a lot of differences compared with its predecessor, but one of the most welcome changes is that it can last up to six hours on a single charge rather than three. On top of that, it's a lot more affordable at $149, and until Nov. 1, it's available for preorder at a mere $119. In other words, the game plan here appears to be to cut the cost in half and increase the battery life by twofold.
Unfortunately, it seems that Bragi had to relatively tone The Headphone down across the board to keep the price tag low. To explain, it doesn't have internal storage and fitness-tracking capabilities, and the carrying case it comes with doesn't charge the earphones when they're placed back in. What's more, it sports physical buttons instead of touch controls like on the Dash, but depending on the customer, that's either a downgrade or an improvement.
Before wrapping things up, anyone who's sold to the new pair of wireless earbuds that the German company has brought to the table better take action and preorder it on the official website before Nov. 1 to save at least $30.
