Léa Seydoux, best known for her starring role in the controversial-yet-acclaimed Blue is the Warmest Color, will co-star in the next James Bond film.
The 29-year-old actress will co-star with Daniel Craig in the currently-untitled film. Little is known about the movie, known only as Bond 24, except that most of the recurring cast from Skyfall is returning, including Ralph Fiennes as M, Ben Whishaw as Q and Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny. Skyfall director Sam Mendes will be back as well.
The Daily Mail reports that the original plan for this particular character has her being portrayed by a Scandinavian actress, but that plan was abandoned in favor of a French "femme fatale." Léa Seydoux's success with Blue helped her score the part, though she also starred in dozens of French films, as well as nabbing small parts in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Inglorious Basterds and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Table reads for Bond 24 will take place in November. Filming begins in six weeks with an eye toward a November 6, 2015 release date. So you can expect more announcements about the movie very soon.
