New York Comic Con 2014 kicks off with first 'Tomorrowland' trailer and a surprise visit from George Clooney

Disney's upcoming Tomorrowland has been shrouded in mystery, and though the cast and creative team still aren't ready to reveal too much about the movie just yet, we got a little bit more intel about the latest Walt Disney World attraction-turned-movie.

Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof debuted the first teaser trailer for Tomorrowland during the Walt Disney Studios panel at New York Comic Con 2014 on Oct. 9.

In the trailer, we meet the film's protagonist Casey who has clearly gotten into some trouble as she collects her belongings from the police. Not only are things not going great for Casey, but there's a hint that she lives in some sort of dystopian, not-so-distant future with conflict broadcast on the news. Casey discovers a pin mixed in with her belongings that seems to transport her to another world filled with golden fields and a bustling city in the distance, much like the shot of the gang making their way toward the Emerald City in The Wizard of Oz.

You'll also get a glimpse of George Clooney at the very end of the teaser, which was also released online Oct. 9. Clooney surprised the Comic Con crowd when he appeared on stage to take part in the panel, along with his Tomorrowland co-stars Hugh Laurie, Raffey Cassidy and Britt Robertson, who plays Casey.

"It is not lost on me that I am spending my honeymoon at Comic Con," Clooney told the audience, referring to his recent nuptials with lawyer Amal Alamuddin on Sept. 27 in Venice.

He also took this opportunity to apologize for his portrayal of Batman in the 1997 movie Batman & Robin, including those infamous nipples on the batsuit.

"I think since my Batman, I was disinvited from Comic Con for 20 years," Clooney said. "I saw Adam West back there, and I was like, 'Yeah, I'm really sorry."

Clooney introduced another sneak peek from Tomorrowland where he's featured a bit more prominently. In this clip, Casey arrives at the home of Frank Walker, played by Clooney, who seems to be a bit of a recluse but also the only one who can take her to Tomorrowland. When Frank refuses, Casey sneaks into his house, and the pair come under attack by police cyborgs. There's a chase through the house as the duo shock and bash these bots before getting into a bath tub that magically lifts them off into the sky.

All this talk about Tomorrowland, and we still don't have a great idea of what it really looks like. You'll notice in the teaser that we see some sort of futuristic city for a split-second, which is probably Tomorrowland. But I guess we'll just have to wait until tomorrow or May 22, 2015 to find out.
