Though he has his own distinct style, shall we say, Neil deGrasse Tyson probably hasn't topped too many best-dressed lists in his time. However, the famed astrophysicist recently made his runway debut.
Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna Couture enlisted the help of Tyson to create an out-of-this world film as the backdrop to its Fall/Winter 2015 runway show. The 11-minute clip opens on a shimmering blue orb that turns out to be the cosmos. The short film switches between taking you on a journey through the universe and visiting cities on Earth, such as New York, Shanghai and Milan before ending up right where we started. There's also a runway show in the film, which gives the film a very meta quality, as if it wasn't trippy enough for you.
Tyson helped Zegna's creative director Stefano Pilati and Fiorella Terenzi, an astronomy professor at Florida International University, to plot "the film's precise, earthbound astral journey," according to Wallpaper. And you thought art and science didn't get along.
You can watch the stunning video in full on your computer screen now. However, if you really want to bask in its splendor, you can head on over to the famous London department store Harrods to see a special window project featuring the cosmic film from now until Oct. 19. It is unclear whether or not a spacesuit will be required for your journey.
Though he may not look like it, Tyson is actually a bit of a fashionista himself. He has about 100 custom-made celestial ties and vests, he told The New York Post in May. Mary McCarthy, Florida-based bridal designer and fan of Tyson's, created the clothing for the astrophysicist.
He also looked quite awesome in his unitard and mini-fro during his Harvard days. Never forget.
