Nintendo is holding an event where fans can take Metroid Prime: Federation Force and Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past out for a spin on the new 3DS XL between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. local time on Aug. 27 at GameStop.
This is just the perfect thing for those who want to test the waters before making a purchase. On top of that, the two games that have been selected are among the most anticipated titles on the platform.
Before the big day takes off the ground, here's a quick look at the pair to give everyone a good idea of what they both have in store for gamers:
Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Developer: Next Level Games
A spin-off from the Metroid Prime series, Federation Force is a first-person shooter that places the player in the shoes of a Galactic Federation Marine. In the game, up to four players can band together via local or online to take on the enemy force that is the Space Pirates.
To make things even more interesting than they already are, it features the Rocket League-esque multiplayer mode called Metroid Prime: Blast Ball, where players are divided in teams of three to go head-to-head in a soccer-like match.
Metroid Prime: Federation Force is already available in stores and on the Nintendo eShop, and the Metroid Prime: Blast Ball is downloadable as a demo on the online store.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
Developer: Heartbeat and ArtePiazza
Published by Square Enix, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is a classic RPG that started out on the original Sony PlayStation. As everyone can see, it's now set to land on the 3DS too, but it's more than just a simple port, as it's "completely rebuilt from the ground up."
As for the release date, it's expected to go official on Sept. 16.
The Bottom Line
It looks like fans in the United States will have something to look forward to this week, and just to remind everyone to save the date, the event is kicking off at 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Aug. 27 at GameStop.
It's should also be pointed out that Nintendo is spreading the word via a blog post, providing the complete list of participating GameStop locations.
