Stephen Collins, the man who played the stand-up father and pastor in the hit TV series, 7th Heaven, is being investigated for child molestation. Apparently, Collins confessed to his therapist and his ex-wife Faye Grant of incidents that happened in the past.
The whole confession took place back in 2012, and it was Grant herself who handed over the tape to the police. However, according to the actress, she had no idea the tape would have fallen into the hands of the media, and she was not the person who did it.
"I woke up today to learn that an extremely private recording I handed over to the authorities in 2012 per their request in connection with a criminal investigation was recently disseminated to the press," said Grant in an interview with E! News. "I had no involvement whatsoever with the release of the tape to the media."
After the news came to light, Stephen Collins immediately resigned from SAG-AFTRA's board, and it didn't take too long for him to be fired from Seth MacFarlane's upcoming film, Ted 2.
It is clear that this could turn out into a career ending tragedy for Collins, as the recorded conversation can be found all over the web. Moreover, as we all know, whatever that makes its way to the Internet, can never and will never leave.
During the recording, Collins is clearly heard explaining how he forced a girl who was 11-years of age at the time, to touch his penis.
"There was one moment of touching where her hand ... I put her hand on my penis," he said.
Collins also confessed that he allowed other young girls to touch his penis after the incident with the 11-year old. It was two other girls, one who was 12, and another who was 13. It is not yet certain when these incidents took place, or who the girls are as this information was not revealed in the recording.
At the moment, everything for Collins is falling apart. He had to resign from his board member position, got fired from appearing in an upcoming movie, and now his past hit TV series got pulled from UP TV.
No doubt this is disturbing news; however, we're not in the game of pointing fingers. The authorities are investigating, and if Collins is found guilty of child molestation, he should face the full brunt of the law.
