25 years of 'The Simpsons' couch gags, playing all at once

Remember when FXX aired every episode of The Simpsons non-stop in order during the end of August? Maybe they should have saved time by just playing all of the episodes at once.

This video is just a hint of what that experience would be like. YouTube user Omni Verse has compiled a video featuring every opening sequence couch gag from every episode, all playing at the same time. It is a cacophony of noise, but somehow strangely mesmerizing.

Most of the couch gags only last a few seconds, and as the video stretches on only a handful remain, including the couch gag from the recent 26th season premiere episode of the show. That couch gag takes viewers to the far future, attempting to imagine what The Simpsons would be like thousands of years from now. You can see it in the bottom right corner of the video above, in what can most accurately be described as an acid trip as Homer and the rest of the family are transformed into strange creatures and shapes. It currently holds the distinction of being the longest couch gag in the show's history.

Now some of this is a little misleading. As Omni Verse states in the video description, not every episode of The Simpsons has a couch gag. For those he inserted something else from the intro for the episode. Many other episodes reuse couch gags from previous episodes as well, creating repeats.

Nonetheless, it is still a strange and impressive sight to see a quarter century worth of iconic television flashing on the screen all at once.
