AT&T has good news for Motorola fans, Moto G LTE arrives Friday

AT&T has announced that the Moto G LTE will be available from the carrier starting on Oct. 10.

The device, which is not to be confused with the Moto G 2014 that was introduced in September, will cost buyers $199 with no contract, $79.99 with a one-year contract, or $7.50 per month with the AT&T Next plan.

"All that summer fun can take a bite out of your budget," said Karissa Norfleet, AT&T senior product manager, in a blog post. "If you're looking to upgrade your phone without downgrading your wallet, then Moto G LTE is definitely a great choice for you."

As far as budget phones go, the Moto G LTE, which was announced in June, is a pretty good way to go. The device features a 4.5-inch HD display and a 1.2-GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It also comes with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and 8 GB of storage. One feature that attracts many customers is the fact that the device runs very near stock Android, or a "pure" Android experience. The device comes with Android 4.4 KitKat, and Motorola has promised that its smartphones will get the latest version of Android within a month of it being released.

Android L, Google's next Android operating system, will likely be released sometime at the end of October or beginning of November.

Since the release of the first Moto G last year, the device has been hailed as one of the best budget smartphones on the market, especially for the price. Since the Moto G LTE was released in June, another Moto G, called the Moto G 2014, has been released with upgraded features and a similar price point.

Another handy feature of the device is that it includes a water-resistant coating, meaning it should be fine if it gets a little wet in the rain or something similar.

While a number of Motorola's smartphones include features like Moto Display, which displays useful information without the user needing to wake up their phone, and Moto Voice, which enables a number of voice controls on the device, the Moto G LTE does not. It does, however, include Moto Assist, which recognizes when the user is, for example, in a meeting and only lets the most important calls through. It also allows users to set actions for particular scenarios.

AT&T will also begin selling its latest mobile hotspot, AT&T Velocity, on Oct. 10. This includes dual-band Wi-Fi, 10 hours of battery life and it will support up to 10 devices at one time.
