Gone Girl is doing surprisingly well at the Box Office, as the popular novel turned movie managed to take the number one spot at the box office with $37.5 million. The movie is about a man and his wife who went missing, and he is not surprisingly, considered the killer.
The movie was directed by David Fincher, the man who also directed The Social Network, another hit film. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike both take on leading roles in the film as the dysfunctional husband and wife. So far, critics are calling Gone Girl one of the best movies of 2014, but despite that, don't expect the film to pull in the same or similar numbers to Guardians of the Galaxy.'
The film that sits behind Gotham in second position at the box office, is no other than "Annabelle." The movie is supernatural horror, and it follows both Ward Horton and Annabelle Wallis, new parent who brought home a creepy looking doll thing.
The doll as expected, is a possessed mess, that appears as if it wants to kill everyone in the house apart from the baby.
Moviegoers have been waiting for a good creepy horror film for quite some time, and it seems to have been brought to them in the form of Annabelle. We understand the film managed to draw in $37.1 million at the box office, which is very close to Gone Girl numbers.
It will be very interesting to see if both Gone Girl and Annabelle are capable of keeping on top of the box office for another week. It's all about which film has the longest legs, and we believe Gone Girl could have the edge here due to raving reviews from critics and moviegoers alike.
