Samsung originally intended to launch the Gear IconX in the United States on Aug. 14, but instead, it's going to release it on Aug. 19, the same day that the Note 7 and the Gear 360 VR camera are rolling out.
As a little refresher, the Bluetooth earbuds are wireless, and just to clear things up, there are no cables that links the two speakers or wires that connect them to a smartphone. With 4 GB worth of internal storage, it's expected to be capable of storing up to about 1,000 songs.
One notable feature that it'll bring to the table is the Ambient Sound Mode, allowing wearers to hear outside noise even when there's music playing. That just goes to show that the South Korean manufacturer wants everyone to stay aware of their surroundings when they're out for a jog or anything else along those lines.
Loaded with fitness-tracking features, it can keep data such as the heart rate, burned calories and many others of wearers. It can even whisper words of encouragement to motivate them to achieve their goals.
Users can charge the Gear IconX by placing them inside the container they come with, and it's rated to have enough juice to charge the earbuds two times before it needs to be plugged in itself. As for how long the pair will last, it's believed to go about 1.5 hours when streaming from a smartphone and 3.6 hours when listening to the music stored natively.
As for controlling it, tapping on it once will play or pause the music, twice will go to the next track or answer and reject calls, thrice will go to the previous track, swiping up or down will increase or decrease volume respectively and tapping and holding will activate the menu readout.
Compatibility-wise, it only works with Android devices that runs on at least KitKat 4.4 and 1.5 GB of RAM.
Interestingly enough, images of the Gear IconX got leaked back in May along with the Gear Fit 2, and it's safe to assume that they already got the attention of a lot of fitness enthusiasts then.
For those who are interested, they are now available for preorder via Samsung's official website or Verizon with a $199.99 price tag, and as mentioned earlier, they're set to hit the shelves on Aug. 19.
