Samsung Unveils The Galaxy Note 7: When, Where, How - And How Much It Costs - To Preorder The Smartphone

Samsung unveiled its latest smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7, during the device's launch event at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Tuesday.

Following in the footsteps of the Galaxy S7 Edge, the Note 7 has a slightly larger 5.7-inch dual curved Super AMOLED display. The device has 64 GB of memory with a microSD slot and is powered by a 64-bit quad-core processor, making it approximately 30 percent more powerful than the previous Note device.

The Note 7 includes Gorilla Glass 5 on its screen to prevent scratches, and is IP68 water-resistant in up to five feet of water for up to 30 minutes. The S Pen also has gotten some improvements, including also being water-resistant and being more sensitive, with magnification and GIF-making features.

It is the first Samsung smartphone to feature a USB-C charging port and has a 3,500 mAh battery. The Note 7 is equipped with a 12 megapixel real and 5 megapixel front-facing camera, but arguably, the best feature of them all is the new iris-scanning technology used to unlock the device.

The device will be available in Coral Blue, Black Onyx and Silver Titanium options, and will be available on Aug. 19. However, those who can't wait to get their hands — and eyes — on the Galaxy Note 7 may already be dying to preorder now.

Here's when, where, how to preorder Samsung's Galaxy Note 7, and how much it will cost.

Verizon

Verizon customers can preorder their Galaxy Note 7 device staring Wednesday, Aug. 3 at midnight EDT. However, this offer is only available online, so customers won't be able to call or visit their local Verizon store to place their order.

Prices have not yet been revealed for Verizon plans, but customers will be able to choose between a free Samsung Gear Fit 2 smartwatch or a 256 GB microSD card for extra storage.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile users will be able to preorder the smartphone starting tonight at 9 p.m. PDT (midnight EDT) online and by phone. Once T-Mobile retail stores open, users will also be able to order the device, and then come back to pick them up at participating locations starting on Aug. 19.

T-Mobile preorders for the 64 GB Galaxy Note 7 will cost customers $69.99 as a down payment, with the monthly payment of $32.50 for two years. The retail price of the phone is $849.99.

T-Mobile is also giving customers the choice of also getting a free Samsung Gear Fit 2, a 256 GB microSD card or a year-long subscription to Netflix for those who purchase the device before Aug. 28.

AT&T

The Note 7 will be available for AT&T customers starting on Wednesday, Aug. 3 online, with the smartphone arriving in stores on Friday, Aug. 19.

The 64 GB version of the device retails for $849.99, but customers have the option of paying $29.34 for the next 24 (30 months) or $36.67 for the next 18 (24 months).

To sweeten the deal, those customers who preorder the Note 7 on AT&T will get the Gear S2 for free and a Galaxy Tab E for just $0.99 with a two-year agreement. Those who buy the new Note 7 can also get a second Galaxy phone with AT&T Next and will receive $695 toward their bill over 30 months.

Sprint

Sprint customers will be able to preorder the device starting Wednesday, Aug. 3. However, the carrier has not released any details about its prices or any freebies just yet.

U.S. Cellular

Customers will be able to preorder the Galaxy Note 7 online and in-store one day after the other carriers beginning on Aug. 4.

The device will only be available in the Silver Titanium and Black Onyx options, and will cost $27.80 for 30 months for the 64 GB version. Of course, the retail price is $849.99.

The carrier is also offering the free Gear smartwatch or memory card, as well as an additional $20 in rewards if they make their purchase using Samsung Pay.

Other Retailers

Customers can also get a hands-on preview of the Note 7 when buying it at the Samsung Experience Shops at Best Buy. You will then be able to preorder the device from the retailer, as well as walk away with a free Samsung item.

The Galaxy Note 7 can also be preordered on Amazon, Target, select Walmart locations, Sam's Club and Car Toys.
