The official release of No Man's Sky is finally only a few weeks away, but one fan who goes by the name of daymeeuhn couldn't wait for it any longer, spending $1,302.95 over at eBay for an early copy.
As anyone may have expected, gamers here and there have been asking him to post videos of the gameplay. Succumbing to the demands, he posted a couple of clips, but to no one's surprise, they were soon taken down.
However, as is the nature of the internet, they never really disappeared online. Other people who also couldn't spare another second without No Man's Sky scoured the depths of the web and proceeded to carry out good old-fashioned nitpicking sessions.
Hello Games founder Sean Murray took things to Twitter, imploring everyone to stop analyzing the videos so that the surprises that the team have been placing amid the universe filled with 18 quintillion planets won't be spoiled.
After the tweet made the rounds online, daymeeuhn had a sort of change of heart, editing his original post on Reddit and telling everyone that he is no longer going to upload clips of the game.
"In the one hand, I'd love to share those with you — but in the other hand, Sean is right... why not just wait and experience them first hand?" he says.
Considering that the release date of No Man's Sky for the PS4 is on Aug. 9 and for the PC on Aug. 12, it shouldn't be that difficult to wait it out — well, for some people, that is.
For those who are interested in taking a close, spoiler-free look at the copy daymeeuhn got a hold of, his unboxing video is still up over at Dailymotion. At first, he wasn't sure that it would work on his PS4, and he set a series of trials that the package should pass, including coming in with a game case and a disc inside and working perfectly on the console.
To boil things down, anyone who's itching to see a glimpse of No Man's Sky about a week ahead of its launch will have to explore the internet thoroughly or wait for somebody else to cough up videos, as daymeeuhn isn't having any of it anymore. Of course, that doesn't mean he's going to stop playing, though.
