The glorious success that is Pokémon GO keeps shattering records, reportedly reaching an estimated 75 million downloads worldwide on Android and iOS.
Just a few days ago, Apple confirmed that Pokémon GO is the undisputed leader when it comes to launch downloads, breaking records just one week after its release.
The game stirred immense interest since its debut on July 5, and although it already started to decline in the United States, it's still breaking records in terms of downloads.
App analytics company Sensor Tower estimates that Pokémon GO topped 50 million downloads in record time on Google Play this weekend alone. Together with the impressive App Store record, it seems the game racked up a whopping 75 million downloads across Android and iOS.
Pokémon GO was already the most popular mobile game ever shortly after its launch, but the new figures stand to prove just how tremendous its success is. Sensor Tower puts the 50 million downloads on Android into perspective:
"That not only makes it the fastest game to exceed 50 million installs on the platform, at just 19 days after launching in Australia and New Zealand on July 5, but also the fastest to that milestone ever for combined worldwide iOS and Android downloads."
Looking at both Android and iOS downloads, the analytics company highlights that the estimated 75 million installs globally put Pokémon GO in its own league in terms of first-month mobile game installs.
So far, Pokémon GO has reached 32 markets worldwide, which is just a sliver of the more than 100 markets Google Play and Apple's App Store cover. The game will continue to roll out to more markets, likely attracting even more fans worldwide.
Sensor Towers even says the game might surpass 100 million downloads on Android and iOS in its first 60 days on the market, hitting even more record-breaking milestones. Having topped the 50 million downloads mark in just 19 days surely makes that theory plausible.
Other games that topped 50 million downloads are Color Switch and Slither.io, but they took 77 and 81 days, respectively, to hit that milestone.
On the other hand, Pokémon GO is more than a game, it's a social phenomenon. Getting millions of people out of their homes and onto the streets, roaming their cities in search of the tiny Pokémon, makes Pokémon GO more of a social experience than a simple game.
