The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will have a Type-C USB port, according to a video that has emerged online.
Rumors of the Galaxy Note 7 have been doing the rounds for many months now, and Samsung is expected to unveil the phablet in August this year. The latest YouTube video shows three different cables: a black USB Type-C cable for Microsoft Lumia 950, a white micro USB connector and another white USB Type-C cable. The white cables are made by Samsung Vietnam.
A USB Type-C cable has several advantages over micro-USB charging cables. Firstly, Type-C USB cables can be inserted in a device either ways. No more fumbling, as customers do not have to find the right way to plug in the cable.
USB Type-C supports the USB 3.1 standard, which means that customers can transfer data such as music and videos more quickly.
Smartphones are not limited to making and receiving calls or for texting. Mobile phones are used for many other activities such as listening to music and watching videos on the go, which may drain a lot of battery. Charging a phone quickly has become very important for many customers, and USB Type-C cables are capable of charging devices swiftly.
"If you find you're running low, charging is quick with the USB Type-C plug. It's reversible, so there's no more guessing which way is up," says Google.
Apart from the USB Type-C port for the Galaxy Note 7, previous rumors indicate that the phablet may come running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor and 6 GB of RAM.
Speculations are also rife that the Galaxy Note 7 will have a redesigned S Pen stylus and new Air Command features. The Samsung offering may also come with a dual-camera setup for enhanced photo-taking experience.
If rumors are to be believed, then the Galaxy Note 7 will be water-resistant and will include a microSD card slot for expanding the storage capacity of the phone.
When the Galaxy Note 7 launches in August, then customers should expect the device to come running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow straight out of the box instead of the Android N operating system.
The Korean smartphone maker has confirmed its "Unpacked" event for Aug. 2, which will be held in New York. It is highly likely that the Galaxy Note 7 will be launched at the event. Customers will then have to wait until Samsung officially confirms the specs of the Galaxy Note 7 in early August.
