Aston Martin finally released the first batch of official images of the Lagonda ultra-luxury sedan, also called the "super saloon" by the British car company.
The images show the production version of the vehicle, which will be the first brand-new Lagonda in the past 25 years.
The Lagonda will reportedly be sold only in extremely limited quantities through exclusive invitations to clients of Aston Martin located in the Middle East.
However, while this model of the Lagonda will not be publicly available, the revival of the Lagonda brand is part of a bigger strategy by Aston Martin.
In a press event this summer that was held in Scotland, Marek Reichman, the design director of Aston Martin, revealed that the company is looking to expand its lineup of vehicles with more models using the name of the Lagonda brand.
The limited edition Lagonda drew inspiration from the Aston Martin sedan of the same name that was launched way back in 1976 and officially ended production in 1990. Over the course of 14 years, less than 650 units of the luxury car was produced and sold.
In the past, the wedge-shaped form of the original Lagonda was already a very radical one. In addition to its eccentric body, the original Lagonda was also thought to be the very first vehicle to utilize computerized management of the vehicle's engine, along with a digital panel for its instruments.
However, due to the breakthrough digital technology that was incorporated into the luxury car, the vehicle suffered several problems.
Aston Martin is now looking to bring back the famous Lagonda name that was originally ahead of its time, but supposedly this time without the problems that the vehicle encountered on its first run.
Most of the specific details about the new Lagonda has been kept hidden, except for the fact that the vehicle will be produced using a similar lightweight aluminum architecture that is seen on other Aston Martin cars such as the Vanquish.
The most likely choice for the new Lagonda's engine is Aston Martin's 6.00-liter V12 engine, especially considering comments made by Reichman that the luxury car will be offering very high performance levels to its select owners.
Aston Martin has not even revealed when the new Lagonda will begin to be delivered to its clients, nor has the company given a hint about how much the luxury sedan will cost. However, estimating based on how expensive the original Lagonda was when it was released decades ago, most are saying that the new Lagonda can reach prices of as high as $500,000.
