‘Destiny: Rise Of Iron’ Offers First Look At New Hunter Gear Dropping With The Expansion

Destiny's next expansion is set to come out in a couple of months, bringing a bunch of new stuff, which includes gear that Hunters will be able to wear after completing the Trials of Osiris.

The game's official Twitter account posted a series of images of the new gear, offering a first look at what awaits champions. Hunters are in for some very nice swag, but they will have to work hard for it as Bungie recently weakened the Guardian class when it became the default choice for players looking to do well in the Crucible.

"We chose to bring the Hunters down from their position of dominance because it is our hope that every variety of Guardian will have a fighting chance," said Bungie.

Well, working hard for it will make the reward all the more worth it, right?

Another concern that Destiny players could be looking at is that those on last-generation consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will not be able to play Rise of Iron as the expansion pack is only supported on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

Bungie first disabled Destiny's demo on the older consoles before revealing the news that PlayStation and Xbox accounts would be split in August.

"This summer, that experience will for onto two separate paths that will no longer share progression," said the game developer.

This means that when August starts, player progression will split between the last- and current-gen consoles and will not count toward progress made on the current console.

Players looking to upgrade can still import their accounts, but may have to repurchase some content depending on the current-gen console they moved on to. No new content will be released for the PS3 and 360, but support for the consoles will still be available, according to Bungie. However, last-gen consoles will have limited access to certain in-game events, purchasing Silver and Bungie.net features.

Rise of Iron will open up a new location called The Plaguelands. Commanded by Lord Saladin, players will face the Splicers — a new Fallen Devils faction that uses forbidden technology that they discovered deep within the earth after breaking through walls near the Cosmodrome to transform the region into their liking.

Aside from a new Hunter gear, the expansion pack will bring new armor and weapons, a new mode and maps for the Crucible multiplayer, a new cooperative three-player Strike and a new six-player cooperative Raid.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is due for a Sept. 20 release. Those who are preordering the game will get a black and silver Iron Gjallarhorn rocket launcher.
