Besides taking photos and videos using the filters of the day, many people use Snapchat as a way to get a glimpse into the everyday lives of their favorite celebrities.
However, finding certain celebs' Snapchat names can be harder than it seems. For example, Snapchat queen Kylie Jenner can be found by searching for "kylizzlemynizzl."
But now the popular messaging app has a new feature that will make it much easier to find and follow verified accounts.
The new feature is part of Official Live Stories, and has already started rolling out. When a celebrity (which are the ones who have verified accounts) is featured in a Live Story, users will be able to see their username appear in the top left-hand corner. To add the celebrity account, users just have to tap on the displayed username and the app will then add that person to the user's friends list.
This eliminates the need to do a quick Google search to look up the usernames of popular celebs that may use the not-so-obvious kinds, like their actual name.
Those who have the feature can go to the Pokémania Live Story, for example, to be able to easily add Jimmy Fallon (who is featured in this Story) to their friends.
To be clear, this quick adding feature will only work for verified accounts. This means that users will not be able to add random everyday users that are featured in Stories. This allows these types of users to keep their privacy, since their snaps can only be seen by their friends (aside from the ones shared in the Official Live Stories like "Vans Warped Tour"), This also helps celebs gain more exposure and build more of a following.
This isn't the only new feature the app has launched as of late. The most recent update to Snapchat (version 9.34.2.0) brings with it Memories, which is drastically changing the entire premise of the disappearing message app to make snaps much more permanent.
Snapchat Memories now lets users save snaps that can be shared to their Stories at a later date or when showing friends or family moments from an event or trip.
The app is one of the most popular social media apps of the moment, and new features like the two added will help it continue to evolve and stay relevant among users.
