'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' designer shares a glimpse of an older Nathan Drake

Nathan Drake of the Uncharted franchise is getting old, or at least it looks that way judging from a next-gen glimpse at his face.

Kurt Margenau, who is the lead game designer on the upcoming PlayStation 4 title Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, tweeted out a new look at the old and gruff Drake during Naughty Dog 30th Anniversary Art Show held at the Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California.

Sony officially unveiled Uncharted 4 at E3 earlier this year. So far we don't know much about the game, only that it will take place several years after Uncharted 3. Drake has retired from the business of relic hunting, but is forced back into the game to embark on a "globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure."

Naughty Dog says Uncharted 4 will be Drake's greatest adventure and will test his resolve, physical limits and "ultimately what he's willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves." Drake might just not make it back from this adventure alive. Then again, Uncharted is one of Sony's leading franchises, so it would be a bold move for Naughty Dog to kill any possibility of a future installment after A Thief's End.

The game has undergone a number of change-ups since first being teased in 2013. Lead game writer Amy Hennig departed Naughty Dog earlier this year, followed by game director Justin Richmond. Uncharted 4 is now being helmed by the directors of Naughty Dog's other critically acclaimed game, The Last of Us. At the very least, it would seem Uncharted 4 is in incredibly capable hands.
