Inti Creates has been working on Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 these previous months and it looks like the game is finally getting ready for release.
In collaboration with publisher Yacht Club Games — the company behind the epic Shovel Knight series we earlier featured as one of the best PS4 games back in 2015 — Inti Creates will be releasing its new title this coming Sept. 30 on the Nintendo 3DS online store for $14.99. The original title, on the other hand, is now available for only $9.99, previously at $14.99, to make way for the upcoming second installment.
In addition, those who wish to own both copies of the game to catch up and really immerse themselves in its action-packed storyline, with gameplay features comparable to other 2D scrolling games such as Mega Man, can get both titles in a 2-for-1 bundle, Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack. This will be available as a physical copy in North American retail store shelves on the same date.
Worthy of note is the physical cart's price tag of $29.99, which is $5 higher than getting separate versions of the digital games that sum up to only $24.98. This may be due to owning both titles in one handy cartridge and, as we all know, physical copies usually have freebies included.
Its exclusive Japan release — scheduled earlier on Aug. 25 — had the package shipped with a few items depending on where the physical copy was bought. Hopefully, publisher Yacht Club Games will do the same for its U.S. release.
Meanwhile, physical distributions of both titles in the European region have yet to be confirmed by Inti Creates.
"Revealed at our panel at Anime Expo 2016, the Azure Striker Gunvolt games are coming to North America for the first as a physical package!" its announcement trailer writes.
The "for the first" phrase could mean that Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack might be coming to Europe markets. We'll keep you posted.
In other related (and very exciting) news, the company also announced that an original video animation (OVA) based on the game will be launching soon this winter via on-demand, spearheaded by LandQ Studio.
"We are creating this anime in the hopes that both long-time GV fans and first timers alike will be able to enjoy it," Inti Creates announced on the upcoming anime's YouTube debut.
Those who wish to place digital preorders for Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 may proceed to the 3DS store. The Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack trailer may be viewed below, featuring 8 minutes of exclusive in-game footage:
