Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition To Launch On July 7

Recent rumors indicated that Samsung was working on a Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition and it now seems this variant will make its official debut as soon as next week.

Samsung has long been a sponsor for the Olympic Games and it previously launched special editions of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 3 in 2012 and 2014, respectively, to show its support.

The company is now back in the game with a new Olympic Edition of its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S7 edge. After a render of the handset leaked online recently, Samsung's German arm now teases the official launch date on social media.

According to Samsung Mobile Deutschland, the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition will land on July 7. The page tells users to get ready for the special unpacking and links to a promo for the Olympics on the Samsung website.

This special edition of the handset aims to celebrate the upcoming Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, sporting a sleek thematic design, but otherwise the same specs and features as the regular Galaxy S7 edge. This means that besides different aesthetics, you should not expect any changes to the Galaxy S7 edge.

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, however. Not too long ago, for instance, Samsung launched a Galaxy S7 edge Injustice Edition made in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. That version packed the same specs and features as the original S7 edge, but rocked a stylish glossy back with gold color accents and a Batman logo on its rear, underneath the camera.

The upcoming Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition, meanwhile, is expected to boast a sleek black finish with the Olympic rings on the rear case. Samsung could also include some exclusive goodies related to the Olympics, such as special wallpapers, photos, ringtones and videos.

It remains unclear at this point just how much this Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition will cost, or which markets it will hit once it launches. Samsung has yet to confirm whether the special-edition handset will reach the United States as well, but more information should become available shortly.

With just a few days to go until the official launch, we'll soon learn all there is to know about the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition straight from the source. As always, we'll keep you up to date with any new developments, so stay tuned.
