Skyscanner, a worldwide travel search engine, has released a report, which gives glimpses of what future travel will be like in 2024.
Technology has made vast advancements in almost all fields in the last few decades. Technological improvements are also visible in the tourism industry and people are able to easily book their holidays sitting back at the comfort of their homes.
Skyscanner's "Future of Travel 2024" report suggests that future may be even more promising for the tourism industry as people will be able to spend holidays in hotels located in the depth of the seas and also in the space.
Many people have dreams of traveling to the space and a handful of people also got the opportunity to travel outside the Earth's atmosphere. However, space travel does not come cheap and involves millions of dollars. A previous report suggests that British artist Sarah Brightman will fly to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2015, which will cost her about $52 million. Google's co-founder Sergey Brin is also rumored to have paid a deposit for his space journey in 2017.
Space travel in the future may not be as expensive as it is today, but holiday makers may have to splash $75,000 for a space trip in 2024.
"Taking travel to space will be a ground-breaking milestone for mankind in general, but what's even more exciting is the transfer of technologies that space exploration can bring to commercial aviation," says Filip Filipov, Skyscanner's Head of B2B.
Apart from space traveling Filipov also suggested that the traveling time is also expected to reduce in the near future. He suggests that future travellers may be able to get from Sydney to London in just about 2.5 hours.
The Future of Travel 2024 report hints that the advancements in technology may result in the walls on hotel rooms to become fully interactive with the capability of showing pictures, playing movies, make and receive Skype calls and much more. Hotels may be able to provide extremely personalized services to its guests.
The report suggests that suffering from long distance jet lags will not be a big problem for travelers as hotels may be able to provide vitamin C infused showers to feel fresh instantly.
Hotel hot spots may also be located in deep sea and travelers will be able to relish the view of marine life by looking out of their windows.
Hotel rooms may change quite a bit in the coming years, but holiday-makers have to wait for a few more decades before traveling to the outer space and depths of the ocean quickly and relatively cheaply.
